Browning Beaver Meadow
A best-kept secret only 25 minutes north of Honesdale, PA, this beautiful 78-acre preserve is owned and maintained by the Northeast Pennsylvania Audubon Society. Wildflowers and birds abound along the 3/4-mile trail, which is open to the public. There are two new parking areas and a wheelchair-accessible observation deck that overlooks a large pond where waterfowl and beaver can be seen.
Directions: From Honesdale, take Rt. 191 north 16 miles. Turn left at the Lookout General Store on Helmer’s Hill Road. Go 0.8 mile, and turn left at the sanctuary sign on Hawley Road. Please call (570) 253-9250 for more information.
